Repeat Unit

–[O–C₆H₄–C(CH₃)₂–C₆H₄–O–CH₂–CH(OH)–CH₂]ₙ–

The repeating unit is the smallest structural fragment whose repetition builds the whole chain. Subscripts show the relative share of each unit in copolymers.

Key Properties

Cures by ring-opening of the epoxide group with no volatile by-products, so shrinkage is very low (~2 %); outstanding adhesion; Tg is set entirely by the cure schedule and hardener chemistry.

Applications

Carbon-fibre composite matrix, structural adhesives, PCB laminates, coatings.
